How to reverse audio
Turn a sound around so it plays backwards: for a reversed cymbal swell, a hidden message, or just to hear what a song sounds like the other way.
Reverse in four steps
- Open the editor and drop your file onto the page.
- Select what to reverse: one word, a few beats, or everything with Ctrl+A.
- Choose . On a long file you'll see it working across the selection; then press Space to listen.
- Export as MP3, WAV or another format with .
Ideas
- Reverse swell: copy a cymbal hit or piano note, paste it before the original, reverse the copy, and the sound grows into the hit.
- Reverse reverb: select a word with a second of silence after it, reverse it, add , and reverse it back: the echo now comes before the word.
- Reversing twice gives you the original back exactly, and Ctrl+Z undoes it too.
