How to record audio from your microphone

Record a voice-over, a podcast segment or an idea on your guitar, then cut and clean the take in the same place. The recording is kept in your browser, never uploaded.

Record in five steps

  1. Open the editor and start a New project (or open one).
  2. Choose the microphone: the small arrow next to the record button opens the recording settings, with the Input and mono or stereo.
  3. Press the record button (or R). The first time, your browser asks to use the microphone: allow it. Tailwave adds a new track for the take, starting at the cursor, and shows the level as you go.
  4. Press it again (or R) to stop.
  5. Edit and export: trim the start and end, take out background noise, then press Export.

For a clean take

Private by design. The microphone's sound goes straight into your browser's storage on this device.
