How to extract the audio from a video
Save the soundtrack of a phone video, a lecture or a screen recording as an audio file. Tailwave reads the sound of MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV files in your browser, so the video stays on your computer.
Extract in four steps
- Open the editor and drop the video file onto the page. Tailwave keeps only its sound, as a new track.
- Edit if you like: trim the start and end, take out background noise, or make it louder.
- Press and choose a format: MP3 for anywhere, M4A for Apple devices, WAV or FLAC to keep every detail.
- Press . The audio file downloads.
Good to know
- Your browser decodes the video's sound, so it opens the audio codecs your browser plays: AAC, Opus, Vorbis and MP3 cover nearly every video.
- Long videos are fine. Tailwave reads them a piece at a time instead of loading everything into memory.
- Drop in several videos and export with to get one audio file for each.
The video never leaves your device. No upload, no account, no waiting in a queue.
